Sharp: Saints deal wasn't right
Doncaster striker Billy Sharp has revealed he did not move to Southampton because he felt the deal was not right for him.
Both Saints and Ipswich had bids for the 25-year-old turned down before the south-coast outfit came back in with an improved offer of £3.25million.
The likelihood is that Rovers would have accepted the offer had Sharp wanted to go.
Yet he told The Star: "Southampton are a big club and had the deal been right then I would have negotiated with them but it wasn't.
"I knew Southampton manager Nigel Adkins, who I had played under at Scunthorpe.
"That was one of the positive aspects of their approach, but like I say the deal wasn't right."
